Field Notes: production chains and bottlenecks
Follow the flow from raw ore to useful output before buying the next upgrade.
A factory grows through connected steps, not isolated machines. Start by watching ore supply, processing and the modules that consume the result. If one stage waits for input while another stockpile grows, the waiting stage is showing you where the chain needs attention.
Find the limiting stage
Compare input use with output over the same short interval. Upgrade the stage that limits useful output, then observe the chain again. More extraction does not help a processor that is already the bottleneck; more processing cannot fix an empty input store.
Change one thing at a time
Keep a reserve for the next connected upgrade. Make one improvement, check the new flow and only then spend again. A balanced chain is easier to diagnose than several simultaneous changes.
